Interno , noto anche come the rape , è un dipinto ad olio su tela di edgar degas , dipinto in 1868–1869 . Descritto come " il più sconcertante di Degas's grandi opere " , raffigura uno scontro intenso con la luce della lampada tra un uomo e una donna parzialmente spogliata . Il carattere teatrale della scena ha portato gli storici dell'arte a cercare una fonte letteraria per la composizione , ma nessuna delle fonti proposte ha incontrato un'accettazione universale . Persino il painting's il titolo è incerto ; i conoscenti dell'artista lo chiamavano le viol o intérieur , ed è stato con quest'ultimo titolo che degas lo ha esposto per la prima volta in italia 1905 . il dipinto è ospitato nel philadelphia museum of art .
